Documents Common to all Non-Immigrant Categories

In general the following documents are required by all the applicants;

(1) A valid passport with at least six months validity. (Passports which expire in less than 6 months need to be renewed prior to applying for a visa). In case there is no blank page in the passport to affix the visa then a new passport should be obtained before the submission of visa application.

(2) Appropriate application forms which can be obtained through an Embassy or Consulate.

(3) Documents to support the application detailing employment, reason for travel and financial status

(4) Proof of payment of fees. (HDFC Bank Visa Fee Receipt with two bar code stickers).

(5) Interview appointment letter

(6) Demand draft for the Visa Issuance Fee unless the applicant is a Bhutanese citizen, hold a yellow Identity Certificate or is applying for pA, C, C-l/D, F, G, J, K, M, T, V or Blanket L-l visa.

(7) Demand draft for the Blanket L-l Visa Fee only if the applicant is the principal applicant for a L-l visa and is using a blanket petition to apply for his visa.

(8) All of the Non Immigrant visa applicants must use Application Form DS-156.

(9) All family members applying should schedule appointments together in the same slot.

(10) All applicant must submit Supplemental Application Form DS-157. This form is required by the applicants who are between the ages of 15 and 50.

(11) If the application is for F-l, M-l and J-l type visa, use Application Form DS-158.

(12) Recent (of past six month's) passport size photograph of size 50 X 50 mill with a white or off-white background.

Note: Applicant may amend, at any time, his completed and filled in application forms with pen if the details of his application change or if made a mistake. Do not complete another DS-156 or DS-157 Form. Amend the original forms instead.
