Who can apply?

This visa is for a person who wants immediate transit through the US. on his/her way to or from a foreign destination.

Conditions
Applicant's principal purpose of trip to the US. should be transit

Applicant will depart at the end of his/her authorized stay in the U.S.

Applicant's credentials as a genuine crewmember and his employment is in a capacity required for the normal operation of the vessel

All documents listed under 'Documents Common to all Non­ immigrant Categories' earlier.

Ship Crew - Original letter from the shipping company that states the purpose of travel, itinerary and local agent's name and address in the U.S. -Seaman's book - CDC card

Airline Crew - Original letter from the airline
Additional information
C-1/D Visa holders cannot change status or extend their stay while in the US.

If applicant wants his / her spouse / child to travel to the US with him, in most circumstances they will need a visitor visa (B-2 Visa).
