Visitor Visa - Procedure
1. An applicant must obtain an application form (VAFI - non- settlement) from the British mission nearest to his place of residence or take a printout here.
2. AU relevant documents applicable to the application should be collected and submitted along with the application form and relevant fee at the address applicable to the applicant (address given under 'Where to Apply').
3. The Entry Clearance Officer (ECO) will try to take a decision on the application with the help of the supporting documents as provided by the applicant.
4. If this is not possible, they will need to interview the applicant.
5. ECO will refuse the application if he finds that any document provided by the applicant is forged.

Additional Documents Required
. Bank statements, pay slips, or some other evidence to show that the applicant has enough money to support self and any dependants without working or getting any help from public funds.
. Evidence to prove that the applicant intends to leave the UK at the end of the visit (for example, a letter from the employer).
. Hotel reservation.
. Business Registration Certificate/School Certificate, as applicable.
. Marriage certificate (if applicable).
. Letter from the employer explaining reason for trip.
. Proper documents from the company from the UK

. If visiting family or friends a letter of invitation from the sponsor (the visiting person) explaining the relationship with the applicant and the purpose of the visit.
. If the sponsor will be supporting the applicant during the visit, or paying for the cost of the visit:
Pay slips, bank statements or some other evidence to show that the sponsor has enough money to support the visa applicant (details of last 3 months).
Copy of the sponsor's passport showing his status in the UK

. If applicant is going for medical treatment:
Indian doctor's medical report recommending treatment in the UK.
Proof of doctor's appointment in the UK giving details of costs of treatment per appointment.
Proof of funds.
Applicants are advised to read the category wise conditions as explained above and fulfill the conditions with supporting documents relevant to their application.

Note: Applicant's maximum stay in the UK as a visitor cannot exceed six months. If an applicant often visits the UK, he can apply for a visa that is valid for one, two, five or ten years, and can visit the UK as often as he likes while the visa is valid, but can stay for only up to six months on each visit.

Documents to be provided by the sponsor to the applicant
Sponsor should send all documents to the person he is sponsoring, enabeling him to include the same with his visa application.
Sponsor should not send any documents directly to the visa section.
If the sponsor is providing support and accommodation, or pays towards travel to the UK, sponsor should provide evidence of his ability to do so, such as:
A letter of sponsorship giving details of his occupation and salary.
Details as to how the sponsor will provide support and accommodation to the applicant (certification of this letter not required).
Evidence of sponsor's ability to pay for the trip, such as copies of last six months bank or building society statements and salary slips.
Note: If the sponsor is receiving help from the public funds, he will not receive any extra funds for this purpose.

Sponsors should note that their sponsored applicant is not permitted to take paid or unpaid work, engage in producing goods or provide services in the UK or get engaged in selling goods and services to members of the public.
If the sponsor is sponsoring the applicant for business purpose, then he should send a letter addressed to the visa officer from his company explaining what the applicant will be doing and whether his company will be paying for the trip of the applicant.
