Students enrolled as Doctors, Dentists and Trainee General Practitioners (GPs)
Fully qualified doctors, dentists and trainee GPs from India who are eligible for full or limited registration with the General Medical Council (GMC). or the General Dental Council (GDC) may be granted visa to the UK to gain a postgraduate professional qualification through work experience in Health Authority establishments.

Doctors engaged in basic specialist training delivered in the senior house officer or equivalent grade may be granted visa for a period of up to. 3 years. The maximum period allowed in this capacity is 4 years.

Doctors may then progress to higher specialist training, delivered in the specialist registrar or equivalent-grade. There is no upper limit on the length of time doctors are allowed to spend in the UK training at this level and visa to enter or visa to remain may be granted for up to 3 years at a time.

At the time of application, the doctors are required to show that they have the continued support of the postgraduate Dean or his appointed representative, and they satisfy the usual maintenance, accommodation and GMC registration criteria.
