Seasonal workers at agricultural camps.
Applicant (mainly students) of Indian nationality can take up seasonal employment at certain agricultural camps in the UK without work permits. List of the UK operators currently licensed by the Home Office for this purpose is given in Annexure UK-IV. Only listed operators can employ the applicant. Every operator has been assigned a quota of the total number of seasonal workers to be recruited. Applicant must ensure that food and accommodation is provided to the applicant by the sponsoring operator.
(1) Applicant must provide with proof of age and status of the operator.
(2) Applicant must be holding a work card issued to him by one of the operator as listed at Annexure UK-IV.
(3) Applicant should be a full-time student in India and aged between 18-25 years. Exception to age is only when applicant is on a subsequent visit as a seasonal worker to the same farmer on the farmer's invitation.

(4) Applicant must show intention to leave the UK at the end of the period of leave.
(5) Applicant must not take employment other than through this scheme.
(6) Applicant must not recourse to public funds for any help.

Note:
(i) New cards with changes in colour and date are issued by the Home Office to the UK operators each year.
(ii) Operators are allowed to amend and initial minor mistakes; however, other amendments, including the use of correcting fluids, are not allowed.
(iii) The card records the period for which the worker is required at the farm. Workers may be transferred from the original farm to another within the scheme.
(iv) Spouses/Civil partners and dependants of applicant can not accompany or join the applicant in the UK.

(c) Teachers and language assistants going to the United Kingdom under approved exchange schemes.
Applicant who is suitably qualified as a teacher and language assistant can apply under this category.

(1) The exchange scheme under which the applicant falls should be approved by the four Education Departments of the UK or under the schemes administered by the Central Bureau for Educational Visits or the Language for the Exchange of Commonwealth Teachers.
(2) Applicant must show intention to leave the UK at the end of the period of leave.
(3) Applicant must not take employment other than through this scheme.
(4) Applicant must not recourse to public funds for any help and should be able to accommodate and maintain himself.
(5) Applicant must join an educational establishment in the UK under an exchange scheme approved by the Department for Education and Employment (DfEE); or under a scheme administered by the Central Bureau for Educational Visits and Exchanges or the League for the exchange of Commonwealth Teachers.

(6) Applicant must be able to provide evidence that he has been accepted under the scheme.

Note: Applicant under this scheme can work only part-time. Applicant will normally be issued with a numbered "certificate of appointment" by one of the appropriate sponsoring bodies. The certificate should contain details of the educational establishment to which the applicant is to be appointed, the duration of appointment and personal particulars of the applicant.
Spouse/ civil partner and dependents under this category are permitted to accompany or join the applicant in the UK. For complete details refer to category 'Overseas Domestic Workers' earlier. Conditions for both categories are same.
