Who Can Apply
An applicant wishing to enter the UK for the purpose of employment has to first ascertain as to which of the following 3 categories he falls, depending upon the purpose of visit. Applicant must decide whether the visit is for employment or for employment-related work.

1. If the purpose of visit is an interview, business related, entertainer for an audition, sportsperson for a trial etc. then he is required to apply for a visitor visa.
2. If the purpose of visit is to take up a job in the UK and work on employment, then the applicant should first find an employer and the employer in the UK will process the case in the UK. Applicant under such circumstances should apply for a work permit.
3. The third category comprises of cases where the Rules provide for grant of entry to the UK to an applicant to take up a job for certain specified employment, for which work permit is not required. Applicants falling under this category are:
(a) Working holiday makers.
(b) Seasonal workers in agricultural camps.
(c) Teachers and language assistants going to the United Kingdom under approved exchange schemes.
(d) Representatives of Indian newspapers, news agencies and broadcasting organizations.
(e) Sole representatives.
(f) Overseas Domestic Workers in diplomatic households.

(g) Overseas Domestic Workers in private (not diplomatic) households.
(h) Indian government employees.
(i) Ministers of religion, missionaries and members of religious orders.
(j) Airport-based operational ground staff of overseas-owned airlines.
(k) United Kingdom ancestry.
(l) Persons intending to establish themselves in business in the United Kingdom including self-employed persons.

(m) Innovators and entrepreneurs.
(n) Investors.
(o) Writers, composers and artists.
(P) Post graduate trainee doctors and dentists.
(q) Fresh Talent: working in Scotland Scheme.
(r) Science and Engineering Graduates.
The requirements for each type of applicant are different. We shall now discuss the conditions for each type of applicant in detail. Applicant is advised to read the conditions carefully and fulfill them with the help of documentary evidence when applying for visa.
