Overseas Domestic Workers Visa
Who Can Apply?
Overseas domestic workers visa is issued to an applicant who is in the age group of 18 to 65 years and is employed in India for more than one year or more immediately prior to the application, as a domestic worker in the same house as employer or in a household that the employer uses regularly for self. This may include a cleaner, chauffeur, gardener, cook, those providing personal care for the employer or a member of the employer's family and nanny, if he/she is providing a personal service relating to running of the employer's household.

Conditions
. Applicant should be aged between 18 and 65 years.
. Applicant should be working as a domestic worker in the employer's house for at least one year immediately before the application OR
. Applicant should be working in a household that the employer uses regularly for himself for at least one year immediately before the application, and there should be evidence to prove    that there is a connection between him and the employer.

. Applicant should work full-time as a domestic worker.
. Applicant should travel to the UK either with the employer, the employer's husband or wife or the employer's child who is under 18.
. If the applicant is traveling alone:
There should not be excessive time lapse and Satisfactory evidences e.g. a letter from the employer, explaining why he is travelling alone.
Note: The applicant may also travel with other members of the employer's immediate family (e.g. parent/s) provided they form part of the employer's household.
. Applicant should be able to produce a written undertaking duly signed by the employer that, the employer will maintain and accommodate the applicant adequately and provide with a separate bedroom if living under the same roof. (See Annexure UK-II).
. Applicant should be able to produce a signed statement from the employer detailing terms and conditions of the employment. (See Annexure UK-III).

. Applicant should be able to produce a written statement from the employer stating that the latter will comply with the UK legislation on the National Minimum Wage once in the UK. (This condition is not mandatory but desirable).
. Applicant should not take any other. employment in the UK except as a domestic worker.
. Applicant should be able to support self and live (as confirmed by the employer) without recourse to public funds.

Additional Documents Required
. Applicant should submit all the available documents proving the qualification & eligibility to enter UK for this visa.
. Applicant is advised to read the conditions as explained above carefully and fulfill the conditions with supporting documents.

Important
1. Domestic workers are not required to live in the same house as the employer. However, if this is not the case, employer must ensure that either he pays for the accommodation or that the domestic worker's wages are sufficient to cover the expense.
2. Domestic workers, including those accompanying visitors, are allowed to change employers once in the UK provided that, they are still employed in a domestic capacity in a private household.
3. Immigration Rules permit extensions of stay for periods of up to 12 months, and indefinite leave to remain in the UK, after a continuous period of 4 years in the category. There is also a provision for spouses/ civil partners and dependent children to be granted leave to remain in the UK with the overseas domestic worker.
4. Applicants who are refused entry clearance in this category, or as the spouse/ civil partner or dependent of a person in this category, have a right of appeal under Section 82 of the Nationality, Immigration and Asylum Act 2002, unless entry clearance is refused on the ground that an applicant does not satisfy the age requirement in this category or as the dependent child of a person in this category.
