For Business or employment related visits.
(a) Applicant intends to transact business directly linked to his employment in India, and
(b) Applicant normally lives and works in India and has no intention of transferring the base to the UK, even temporarily, and
(c) Applicant receives a salary in India (but may get reasonable expenses to cover travel and subsistence during the visit).
(d) Applicant should be going to attend meetings, conferences, trade fairs, seminars etc including guest speakers provided the conference or seminar is a single event, i.e. not part of a commercial venture, or
(e) Applicant should be going to purchase, check details of or examine goods, or
(f) Applicant should be going to deliver goods from India, or
(g) Applicant should be going to negotiate or sign trade agreements, contracts, etc., or

(h) Applicant should be going for the purpose of attending interviews including sports persons going for" trials", entertainers going for auditions, or
(i) Applicant should be going to undertake fact-finding mission, e.g. journalists on a short assignment to cover a story, or
(j) Applicant should be going as an adviser, consultant, trainer, trouble shooter etc, provided that he is employed in India, either directly or under contract, by the same company (or group of companies) to which the UK client firm belongs, but, the involvement of such adviser must not extend to actual project management or providing consultancy services direct to clients of the UK company.
the training, which the trainer is going to impart, should be for a specific, one-off purpose, training should not go beyond classroom instruction, and should not be otherwise readily available in UK, or

(k) Applicant should be going as a tour group carrier contracted to a firm in India, who is applying to carry out short term duties and is not seeking to base himself in the UK, or
(l) Applicant should be an interpreter or translator who is an existing employee of an Indian company and who is accompanying and solely providing a service for business visitors from the company, or
(m) Applicant should be a representative of computer software company going to install, debug or enhance the products. A trip to be briefed on the requirements of a UK customer is also acceptable. However, if the applicant representative has to provide a detailed assessment of a potential customer's needs, this is regarded as consultancy for which a work permit is required, or

(n) Applicant should be a representative of foreign Companies going to UK to erect, dismantle, install, service or repair his company's products, or
(o) Applicant should be going to the UK for training in techniques and work practices employed in the UK, provided that the training is confined to observation, familiarization and classroom instruction only.
(p) Applicant should be able to prove the reason of his/her trip with proper documentation from India and the company in the UK.
