Study Permit Visa in South Africa
Who can Apply?
Persons intending to go to South Africa for the purpose of studies.
Though South Africa permits the admission of a limited number of foreign students every year.

Conditions
This visa is issued on the following conditions:
. The applicant should not displace a South African student at the local institution.
. Applicant must depart South Africa on completion of study.
. Applicant must have proficiency in English or official language of South Africa.
. Applicant must not take up employment after completion of the studies.

Documents Required
. Valid passport (with at least 1 year validity).
. Latest passport size photos - 2 copies (not older than 6 months).
. Duly completed Forms,(See Annexure SA-III) :
1. Form BI-159 A (Application for temporary residence in South Africa)
2. Form BI-159F (Application for a Study Permit).
3. Form BI-811 (Medical Certificate).
4. Radiological Report.

. Proof of qualification.
. Certificates in local language should be supported with their English translation.
. Motivation as to why the applicant is taking up studies in South Africa instead of India.
. Proof of sufficient funds to defray study, living and related expenses in South Africa.

. Letter from the school/ institution in South Africa confirming: Admission of the applicant to the course.
Registration with the concerned school/institution with registration number (or any other proof).
Payment of prescribed fee.
Duration of the course
. Letter of surety from school/institution, stating student will depart South Africa after study.
. Copy of the contract signed between the applicant and the school detailing the aspects of accommodation, medical, etc.
. If minor - consent on stamp paper from both the parents.
Proof of deposit of DD of Rs. 40,000 for the purpose of repatriation of the applicant, if required. Refund is entitled on departure from South Africa and successful observance of the visa conditions & rules.

1. Visa is issued for a period of one year but can be extended on expiry, on production of a valid proof necessitating the extension.
2. Applicants wishing to enter the country exclusively for the purpose of practical training or to take up employment not pertinent to their studies in South Africa should apply for work permit visa.
3. Taking up of employment on study permits visa without prior approval is prohibited.
4. Processing fee must be paid in equivalent INR's.
