Working as an Employee

When an individual wants to work in the Netherlands for more than 3 months as an employee of the Netherlands, he/she should apply under this category. For all employees who want to work in the Netherlands, the employer must apply to the CWI in the Netherlands for a work permit.

Conditions:
. Common to all employee applicants:
- Applicant must have a health insurance with coverage to the Netherlands.
- Applicant should not constitute a risk to the public of the Netherlands
- Applicant must have sufficient funds
. Additional conditions for apprentice:
- Applicant must work for a Dutch company for the purpose of gaining professional experience enabling him/her to practice his/her profession in India.
. Additional conditions for trainee.
- Applicant must be engaged in studies at an educational institute in India.
Applicant should be working for a Dutch company only due to a compulsory work experience placement and he/ she should be able to produce a written declaration to this effect from his/her educational institute.

Documents Required
Common documents:
- Valid passport of the applicant.
2 passport size photographs.
Copy of the application for a work permit as applied by the employer in the Netherlands.
Legalised birth certificate of the applicant.
Signed declaration of background.
Copy of the employment contract or work experience placement or apprenticeship agreement.
Proof of sufficient funds during the stay.
If applicant is an unpaid research worker: Document issued by the supporting institute proving that a grant has been given.

Applicant is a spiritual leader or teacher of religious knowledge : Information about the religious community to be served by the applicant.
If the applicant is on paid employment as a director-major shareholder: proof that share holding in the Indian company is less than 25% and that the applicant receives a salary determined by third parties.
Notes: 1. When the applicant applies for a temporary residence permit after reaching the Netherlands he/she will be examined for tuberculosis.
2. In principle, the residence permit is issued for a period of 1 year.
3. When the residence permit is due to expire, applicant will receive written notification about the possibility to extend the period of validity of the residence permit
4. Trainees cannot stay in the Netherlands on a work experience placement for more than 1 year.
5. Apprentice can not stay in the Netherlands to gain professional experience for more than 2 years.
