What is authorization for temporary stay (MVV)?
(New charges for Authorisation for MVV, are applicable as of July 1st 2005).
MVV is an authorization for temporary stay (MVV) in Netherlands. To obtain MVV, applicant will need, in most cases, a sponsor in Netherlands. The sponsor is the person or organization with whom the applicant wishes to stay or who finances the applicant in the Netherlands.
With the MVV the visitor is entitled to enter Netherlands to stay longer than three months. An MVV application procedure* begins when an applicant approaches Dutch embassy or consulate in India seeking an authorisation for temporary stay in Netherlands. An advisory procedure is triggered if the sponsor approaches Immigration & Naturalization Service (IND) in Netherlands.

The MVV is a combined MVV plus short stay visa (known for short as a D+C visa). This gives MVV holder three months after entering in the Netherlands and before obtaining a residence permit with which holder is entitled to travel freely within the Schengen area and/ or return to the Netherlands after making a single visit to a country outside the Schengen area.
The MVV application can only be initiated on the basis of birth certificate duly legalised by the embassy or consulate general in India. Legalisation procedure must be completed before lodging the MVV application.
The most common purposes for which MVV is required are:
To stay permanently with spouse (registered partner Child wanting to stay permanently with parents

Regular employment
Employment as a highly skilled migrant
Study
Adoption
The application form and the accompanying documents are handed over to the embassy or consulate general alongwith the appropriate visa fee (counter value of € 50,-).
Note: In case of incomplete application, the applicant is given a one-off period of four weeks to rectify the omission, before application is forwarded to the Dutch authorities for the final decision.
On receipt of the notification of the IND's decision by the embassy or consulate, the applicant is informed about the same in writing.
Successful applicant is issued with MVV and unsuccessful applicant has the right to file a petition for review within 28 days of the day following the date on which the negative recommendation was issued.
