Adoption generally relates to foreign children who will be staying in the Netherlands as a foreign adoptive child.
Conditions:
For Adoption:
Relating to Indian applicant:
Applicant at the time of entering the Netherlands must not have attained the age of 6 years.
Applicant must not have a dangerous contagious or long-term physical or mental illness.

Relating to Netherlands adoptive parents:
Parents must be able to demonstrate that appropriate arrangements for the parent/ s who are giving the child in India have been made.
Parents must be able to demonstrate that the authorities in India agree with the inclusion of the Indian child in the family of the prospective adoptive parents.
Parents must meet the stipulations of the placement of Foreign Foster Children Act. To know the details, adoptive parents are advised to contact the IND.
By means of an approval in principle, parents must be able to show that they are suitable adoptive parents.
For Foster child:
Conditions below relates to both the applicant and prospective foster parents.

Foster child must be prepared of living in a family of one or more Dutch nationals or foreign nationals legally residing in the Netherlands.
Foster child must not have an acceptable future in India.
Foster child must not have a dangerous contagious or long­ term physical or mental illness.
Prospective foster parents must be able to provide the foster child with good care and education.
Prospective foster parents must have sufficient income to support the foster child.
The natural parent/ s or legal representatives of the foster child must agree with his/her stay in the family of the prospective foster parents.

Documents required
For Adoption:
Child related:
Copy of valid passport.
Legalized birth certificate.
Passport photographs.

Adoptive parents related:
Copy of Valid passport.
Permission in principle from the Ministry of justice - Directorate
General for Prevention, Youth and Sanctions.
Photocopy of the court decision from India regarding child's adoption into the parent's family.
Legalised (and, if required translated) documents showing that the release of the Indian child by the child's parent/ s has been properly arranged.
Legalised (and, if required translated) documents showing that the authorities in India approve of the fostering of Indian   child by the prospective adoptive parents.
Medical certificate of the adoptive child issued in India.
Copy of the identity papers of the prospective parent/ s such Dutch nationality / residence permit of both the parents where applicable and possible.

For Foster Child:
Child related:
Same as above.
Prospective parents related:
Copy of Valid passport.
Medical certificate of the foster child showing that he/ she does not suffer from a dangerous contagious or long-term physical or mental illness.
Extract from the municipal personal records database (GBA) showing the address and family of the prospective parents, not older than 6 months.
Officially legalized (and, if necessary translated) documents showing that the parents of the child agree/ s for the stay of the child in the family of the prospective foster parents.
Documents proving that parents have sufficient income.
Signed guarantor's declaration.

Written explanation of the parent's special circumstances or of the family members of the child, showing that the child cannot be cared for or can only be cared for with great difficulty by the family in India.
Proof of the legal family relations between the prospective parents and the child's family.
Copy of the identity papers of the prospective parent/ s such as the Dutch nationality / residence permit of both the parents where applicable and possible.

Notes:
1. When the child applies for a residence permit after reaching Netherlands he/ she will be examined for tuberculosis.
2. The period of validity of the residence permit is determined by the residence status of the foster or adoptive parents. If the foster or adoptive parents have a permanent residence permit or have the Dutch nationality, the residence permit can be issued for a period of 5 years.
3. If the foster or adoptive parents have a temporary residence permit, the residence permit can, in principle, be issued for a period of 1 year.
4. Application for extension of the residence permit can be made after the applicant is assessed by the IND. The residence permit will generally be extended by 5 year period each time, but will automatically expire 1 month before the expiry of the passport of the applicant.
5. The fee for extending the residence permit is EURO 285.
