About Mexico
Mexico covers a surface of 761 thousand square miles and is divided into 31 state and the federal district. The country is bordered in the south by Guatemal and Belize and in the north by the United States of America between the Gulf of Mexico on the east and the Pacific Ocean on the West. It is surrounded by 4 coasts: The Sea of Cortes, the Pacific Ocean, the Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico.

This is a diverse country and a millennial culture with the Olmecan tribe being the first civilization that appeared around 1500 years BC. Mexico is rich in traditions, history, art and religion offering a complete tourist infrastructure that guarantees a comfortable and secure stay of those visiting its different destinations.

For the purpose of tourism this country is divided into six tourist regions. (1) Northern Mexico. Known for its extreme weather conditions and characterized by its deserts, nature reserves and rugged mountain ranges. Some cities in the region are key industrial and business. (2) Central Mexico. The Mexican heartland. Here one will find plenty of natural surroundings, picturesque towns full of life and color, and beautiful colonial cities, some of which have been declared World Heritage sites. (3) Southern Mexico and the Gulf of Mexico. Lined with the shores of Gulf of Mexico and the Pacific Ocean, this region offers an abundance of marshes, mangrove swamps and forests. (4) The Yucatan Peninsula. The gateway to the Mayan world. Here one can enjoy the white-sand beach resorts and the blue waters of the Caribbean Sea, where one can scuba dive along the world’s second largest coral reef. (5) The Pacific Coast. This is the region of cities and towns rich cultural and culinary traditions, as well as some of the best beaches for water sports like surfing and fishing.

(6) The Baja California Peninsula. Territory that has been inhabited from time immemorial, in this region one can play golf on world-class courses, discover the underwater treasures of the Sea of Cortez, and witness the amazing migration of the Gray Whale.

Mexico is large and its topography ranges from pool table flat in Yucatan to mountain peaks more than three miles high. Much of interior Mexico lies above one mile in elevation. Mexico’s weather originates to the North and West in winter and to the East and South in the summer.

Summer is rainy season, but temperature and humidity levels are tempered by high elevation. Daytime highs in the seventies to high eighties while nighttime have temperatures in the high fifties to seventy degrees. Humidity levels range from twenty to Fifty percent.
