All applications falling under the category of student visa are referred for decision to the Department of Justice, Equality and Law Reform in Dublin. The process normally takes a minimum of 8 weeks.
All applications must be made through the Embassy of Ireland, New Delhi with a non-refundable fee of Rs. 4000 in the form of Demand Draft payable to the Embassy of Ireland, New Delhi. It is not necessary to present the application in person and the same may be sent by post or through an agent. The application can also be sent through VFS centers or consulates.

A proportion of student applicants may be called for interview at the Embassy after the application has been submitted. Applicants called for interview will be notified in advance and asked to arrange a suitable date and time.

Documents Required
Fully completed and signed Visa Application form (in triplicate) as per Annexure Ireland-I.
Fully completed and signed Student Visa Application Form (in duplicate) as per Annexure Ireland-IV along with questionnaire as per Annexure Ireland-V.
Two recent passport size photographs, affixed on Visa
Application Form at Annexure Ireland-I.
Two copies of the applicant's passport including ALL pages.
Required visa fee.

If the applicant has traveled abroad on a previous expired passport, he/she must submit two copies of this passport also.
Applicant must posses a valid passport with no less than 6 month's validity from the date of course's completion.
Two copies of original acceptance letter from the Educational institute.
Two copies of confirmation of fees paid from the Educational institute.

Note: W.e.f. 1.6.2006 the Visa Office in New Delhi will accept applications for certain Irish Educational Institutes/Courses for which the fee will not have to be paid in advance. If the applicant's visa is approved, they must then pay the requisite fees and once proof of this payment has been received by the Visa Office, visa will be issued.

Notes:
1. If the course fee exceeds EUR 6,250, it is not expected that the applicant pays more than EUR 6,250 prior to visa approval.

2. The confirmation of fee paid letter should also indicate that the applicant has full private medical insurance taken out by the college on behalf of the student (if this is not the case, the applicant must submit a Certificate of Private insurance taken out by the applicant in his/her own name in India prior to travel and the same should be presented at the time of submitting the passport for visa stamping).
. If any of the family members of the applicant are residing in Ireland or in other EU countries, two copies of the details of all such family members. Family members include first cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and grandparents.
Two copies of the following educational qualification certificates along with originals.
(a) 10th class certificate.
(b) 10th class mark sheet.
(c) 12th class certificate.
(d) 12th class mark sheet.
If the applicant holds any third level qualifications:
(a) Degree/Diploma certificates or provisional certificate in case originals are not available.
(b) Degree/Diploma mark sheets.
Two copies of English language qualifications (e.g. IELTS or TOEFL).

Note:
1. The only exception to this is where the applicant is applying straight after 12th class examination with an overall percentage of 70% or more.
2. The recommended band score for IEL TS & TOEFL are:
- For foundation course/sub-degree/ Undergraduate/ Postgraduate
(a) TOEFL- 550
(b) TOEFL Online - 213 + essay mark 4.
(c) IELTS - 5.5
Two copies of evidence of sufficient funds to pay fees and maintain during the stay in Ireland.
If applicant is sponsored
Letter of sponsorship detailing the nature of the support e.g. payment of fees, accommodation and maintenance in Ireland.
Evidence of income of the sponsor in the form of most recent income tax return.
Proof of liquid assets such as:
Bank statements showing deposits & Bank Certificates (Last 6 months) and the same should be in the form of an electronic print out OR a letter on bank's letterhead along with the original passbook.

National Savings Certificates.
Kissan Vikas Patras.(KVPs).
Fixed Deposit slips. (where there are many slips the originals can be presented and there is no need to present the photocopies).
Mutual Fund.
Any other document which the applicant may deem fit.
.Two copies of bank loan certificate - if any

Note: An educational loan from the bank may be used as .partial evidence and not the sole means of paying the course fee and living expenses in Ireland. Applicant must also submit other evidence of funds and evidence that he/she has the resources to repay the aforesaid loan.
If employed - a letter from the current employer detailing the
job title, and responsibilities.
