Renewal of permission to remain following expiry of initial Working Visa/work Authorisation.
Applicants in the Working Visa/Work Authorisation scheme may renew their permission to remain beyond initial two years period subject to their satisfying certain criteria - the most important being that they continue to come within the terms of the sacheme and that there are no public policy objections to their remaining in Ireland.
To apply for extension to remain applicant must visit their local Garda Registration Office (Immigration Registration Office, Garda National Immigration Bureau, Harcourt t. for persons residing in Dublin area or the Grada Superitendent's office in the relevant Garda District for persons residing outside Dublin) with the following documents:
1. A valid Passport.
2. A valid Garda certificate of registration (In either the "Green  Book" or Card format as appropriate).
3. The applicant's current P60.

4. A letter from the applicant's employer certifying that the applicant's employment is in the skill category under which they received their original permission to work. The skills category should also be specified.
Extension of permission to remain, if granted, will be for a further period of two years (or the date of expiry of the applicant's passport whichever is earlier) and will be subject to the same conditions as the original authorization (i.e. employment is authorized in the skill category in question and the employee may change employer without further authorization provided that the employment remains in the same skill category).

After receiving the permission to remain, in case the employee wishes to depart from and return back to Ireland, he/ she should make an application to the Visa Office of the Department of Foreign Affairs for a re-entry visa (see Annexure Ireland-III for form) to allow him/her to re-enter the state at the following address:
