Long Stay Student Visa for minors has been categorized into two categories.
(1) Exchange through approved associations.
(2) Exchange through private exchange.

(1) Exchange through Approved Associations
Who can apply?
High school Exchange students between the age of 9 to 13 years and 15 and 18 years going to France to stay with French families and spend up to one year in French Government schools. A list of approved associations in Australia, arranging for High School students to stay in France, is given in Annexure-B.

Procedure
Completed application along with the required documents should be submitted in person at Consulate General de France, 31 Market Street, Sydney, NSW 2000. Applicants who are unable to appear in person, should send their applications with documents and a large pre-paid self-addressed registered envelope.

Documents Required
Application form duly filled and signed by the parents- Two originals. See Annexure France-II. (For English translation of the application see Annexure France-III).
Two passport photograph duly pasted on the forms.
1 check-list completed. See Annexure France-IV
Original valid passport (with two photocopies).
Sponsorship letter from French Association including Names and addresses of school.
Name and address of the host family in France.
- Proof of medical insurance (with two photocopies).
Letter from French host family signed by both parents (with two photocopies).
Letter from French School certifying pre-registration (with two photocopies).
Parental Authority Delegation Form (with two photocopies). See Annexure France-IX.
Passport of minor's parents - two photocopies.

Birth certificate (with two photocopies).
Medical certificate certifying vaccinations against tuberculosis, diphtheria, tetanus and polio (with two photocopies).
.Travel itinerary (with two photocopies).
Note: It is advised to apply well in time i.e. at least two months before traveling date. Visa processing fees paid is non-refundable.
(2) Exchange through Private Exchange
Documents Required
Application form duly filled and signed by the parents - Two originals. See Annexure France-II. (For English translation of the application see Annexure France-III).
Two passport photograph duly pasted on the forms.
1 check-list completed. See Annexure France-IV
Original valid passport (with two photocopies).
Birth certificate (with two photocopies).

Letter from French School certifying pre-registration (with two photocopies) .
Parental Authority Delegation Form (with two photocopies). See Annexure France-IX.
Passport of minor's parents - two photocopies.
Letter from French host family signed by both parents (with two photocopies). For host family sponsorship, see Annexure France X.
Proof of medical insurance (with two photocopies).
Medical certificate certifying vaccinations against tuberculosis, diphtheria, tetanus & polio (with two photocopies).
Medical Certificate issued by one of the accredited doctor. For details consult the French Embassy.
Proof of funds from the applicant's parents in the' form of financial undertaking, (for Financial Undertaking Form, see Annexure France VI), with proof of the parent's ability to meet the expenses (bank! s statement! s) with two photocopies.
Travel itinerary (with two photocopies).

Note: It is advised to apply well in time i.e. at least two months before traveling date. Visa processing fees paid is non-refundable.
