Tourist Visa
Who can Apply?
Tourist visas are issued to foreigners who enter China temporarily for vacation, visiting family or other personal affairs.
Additional Documents Required
. Covering letter from applicant's company or office addressed to the visa office.
. If visiting relative or friend in China:
. Invitation from the relatives or friends in China.
. Hotel booking confirmation in China.
. Confirmed return Air ticket.
Note:
1. The Embassy & Consulate General do not issue individual visas for tourists to Tibet.
2. Payment through Demand Draft in favour of Chinese Embassy only.
3. Duration of stay is 1-60 days.

Extension of Tourist Visa
If the visitor intends to stay for more days than the visa validity period he/ she can apply for new tourist visa at Beijing Public Security Bureau for one month. One can apply for zero-entry / single-entry L visa for at most twice at each entry.
Documents Required
. Valid passport with valid L visa.
. Passport size Photo (1).
. Residence Registration Certificate (original).
. Proof of sufficient funds to cover the living costs during the extended period in China (Cash, Traveler's Cheque, Draft calculated @ $100 per extended day).
Note: Tourist visa (L) can not be changed to business visa (F) effective from 22/11/2004, however, Tourist (L) visa can be upgraded to Employment (Z) visa under some circumstances, which mainly applies to persons entering China with high ranking job titles, with their names appearing on the employer's business license of foreign invested companies.
