Journalist Visa

Who can Apply?
J-1 visa is issued to journalists who are posted to China for at least one year.
J-2 visa is issued to journalists who are on temporary interview mission to China.

Additional Documents Required

Letter or telegram from competent department of Chinese Government. Note:
1. Applicants of J-1 and J-2 categories should first contact the Press Office of the Chinese Embassy or consulate to get the updated information regarding documents.

2. J-1 visa holders should apply for a residence permit from a local county level Public Security Bureau within 30 days after entering China.
3. Journalists to visit China for sightseeing should apply for L-visa and are not permitted to cover news during their stay in China.
