About Brazil
The Portuguese discovered Brazil during a crisis period and im­portant changes in Europe. Between the XII and XIV centuries, the feudalism was being replaced by a new kind of social organization.
Brazil is the largest Latin American country, covering nearly half of the South American landmass. It is the fifth largest country in the world after the Russian Federation, Canada, China and the United States.
Rio de Janeiro known as the "Wonderful City", offers attractions that have rendered the city international fame. The city was the Brazilian capital until 1960, when Brasilia, the current capital, was inau­gurated.
