Who can Apply?
Aspiring applicant who intends traveling Belgium for the purpose of study, study related admission or for appearing in some examinations.
For a study-related stay in Belgium, applicant must apply fat a temporary residence permit for study (Autorisation de sejour Provisoire pour etudes/Machtiging tot Voorlopig Verblijf voor studies) from the Belgian embassy or consulate in India. This permit is never issued on the basis of an application made in Belgium or an application submitted at an embassy or consulate by an individual who is already in Belgium.

Documents Required
. Duly completed and signed visa application Form.
. Two passport size photos of the applicant.
. Valid passport of the applicant which is valid for at least 3 months after the expiry of the visa.
. Proof of registration or a registration permit for a full course in a higher education establishment in Belgium, or
. Proof of application for an equivalence certificate for diplomas or certificates issued abroad, or proof of registration for an admission test or entrance exam.
. A pledge of financial support for students. This document may be obtained by the guarantor from his/her municipal authorities in Belgium (see Annexure BEL-II). If the guarantor does not reside in Belgium,. he/ she may request the docu­ment from the embassy or consulate responsible for his/her country of residence. If the guarantor resides in India the same may be obtained from the Embassy or consulate in India.

Note: The guarantor who signs this pledge of financial support must have adequate means of subsistence and stand surety for any costs incurred by the applicant in terms of health treatment, residence in Belgium and repatriation, for at least one academic year.

The guarantor must have a regular income to support at least 750 euro to cover his/her own expenses plus 513 euro for the applicant and 150 euro for each of his/her dependents, both members of his/her own family and those of the applicant. (This amount may change every year).
Once this pledge of financial support has been authenticated by the municipal authorities (or the relevant embassy or consulate in the case of a guarantor who is not resident in Belgium), the original document, must be submitted to the relevant Belgian embassy or consulate., together with a copy of the guarantor's last three pay slips (if any), proof of guarantor's family together with evidence of any family benefits received.
A medical certificate, (See Annexure BEL-III) obtained from the doctor designated by the Belgian embassy or consulate.
.Police clearance Certificate if applicant is over 21 (or 18 if the applicant is going to study at a private educational establishment).
. Proof of transport arrangements (return ticket).
Note: As soon as the visa application has been approved, applicant must submit a return ticket (in the name of the applicant and non transferable) in order for the visa to be issued.
The documents listed above are only the basic documents to be submitted. Additional documents may be requested by the embassy or consulate.
