Family reunification to join parent/grandparent

Who can Apply?
Aspiring applicant who intends traveling Belgium for the purpose of family reunification as a child/ grandchild of a Belgium citizen, who resides in Belgium, and the applicant is under 21 years of age and is solely dependent on this parent/grandparent.

Condition
. The parent/ grandparent of the applicant must not have been already authorised to stay in Belgium for longer than three months on a family reunification with another Indian.
. All documents must be presented by the applicant in person at the embassy or consulate as the case may be.

Documents Required
. Two copies of duly completed and signed visa application Forms.
. Two passport size photos of the applicant.
. Valid passport of the applicant with validity of at least 12 months.
. Official copy of the applicant's birth certificate.
. Copy of the Belgian identity card, Belgian passport or the residence or settlement permit for foreign nationals issued to the applicant's parent/grandparent residing in Belgium.
. Letter of permission from the person in whose custody the applicant had been living in India, granting permission to the applicant to leave India.
. Copy of applicant's parents/ grandparent's marriage certificate if the applicant is applying for a visa as a descendant of their spouse.

Note:
1. If a relative of the applicant's parent/ grandparent in Belgium has already obtained a family reunification visa, then the applicant must also exercise his/her right to family reunification before the end of the following calendar year.
2. Official documents issued in India must be legalised.
3. Documents issued in India in a language other than Dutch,
English, French or German must be translated by a sworn translator.
4. The parent/ grandparent with whom the applicant wishes to reside in Belgium must not be de facto separated from the Belgian citizen or foreign national settled in Belgium with whom the applicant is applying for a visa for family reunification.
5. The documents listed above are only the basic documents to be submitted. Additional documents may be requested by the embassy or consulate.
6. the applicant must report in person to the municipal authority at the place of his/her residence in Belgium within 8 days of the applicant's arrival in Belgium.
