Extending stay in Belgium
It is only possible to have the visa extended in exceptional circumstances that could not have been foreseen at the time the applicant made the visa application. When the applicant arrives in Belgium, he/ she should get himself/herself registered at the municipality and receive a declaration of arrival. It is only on the basis of this declaration document, that he/ she may be able to get the visa extended through the municipality, who will ask authorization from the Immigration Service at FPS Home Affairs.

Even if the applicant is not required to register himself/herself with the municipality (because he/ she was staying at a hotel! camp site/youth hostel! admitted to a hospital/prison), applicant must contact the municipality of his/her place of residence if the applicant wishes to take extension.
