Who can apply?
That applicant who has a stable partner residing in Belgium, with whom the applicant has been maintaining a long-term relationship (including sexual relationship) and this applicant, would like to travel to Belgium for the purpose of cohabitation with his/her partner.

Conditions
. Both partners must be at least 18 years old.
. Both partners must be unmarried.
. The partner already residing in Belgium must hold Belgian citizenship or be a foreign national (including an Indian) legally residing in Belgium having authorization to stay in Belgium for a period of longer than three months.
. The partner already residing in Belgium must have sufficient and sustainable means of subsistence.
Note: These conditions apply to both heterosexual and same-sex relationships.

Documents Required
. Two copies of duly completed and signed visa application Forms.
. Two passport size photos of the applicant.
. Valid passport of the applicant with. validity of at least 12 months.
. Photocopy of the Belgian identity card or residence or settlement permit issued to the partner of the applicant residing in Belgium.

Proof that both the partners are not married.
Official copy of full birth certificate of the applicant
Proof that the relationship is stable and long-term (e.g. letters, plane tickets, photographs, etc.).
Proof that the partner residing in Belgium has sufficient means of subsistence (i.e. earns at least 750 euro a month + 125 euro for each dependant).
Guarantor's pledge of financial support signed by the partner of the applicant residing in Belgium.
A medical certificate, (see Annexure BEL-III) obtained from the doctor designated by the Belgian embassy or consulate, dated and not older than 6 months from the date of applica­tion. Police clearance Certificate of the applicant which should not be older than 6 months from the date of application and covering the period of previous 5 years

Note:
1. Within eight days of the applicant's arrival in Belgium, he/ she must go in person to the municipal authority in his/her partner's place of residence.
2. Applicant must actually live together in Belgium for the entire duration of his/her relationship and share the same house hold.
3. Within six months of the issue date of the visa, applicant must sign a contract stating that he/ she live together (i.e. a contract de vie commune/samenlevings contract) in the presence of a Belgian notary or make a cohabitation declaration (declaration de cohabitation/ verklaring van wettelijke samenwoning) in the presence of his/her local municipal authorities registrar, in accordance with Article 1476 of the Civil Code.

4. All applications for extensions of residence permits must be   accompanied by the required proof of cohabitation.
5. If the partner of the applicant residing in Belgium is a student, then parents of the applicant's partner may pledge their financial support provided that the applicant submits proof from the partner's educational establishment together with a pledge of financial support signed by the applicant's partner's parents. This exception applies only to students.
6. Official documents issued in India or elsewhere must be legalised.
7. Documents issued in India in a language other than Dutch, English, French or German must be translated by a sworn translator.
8. The documents listed above are only the basic document to be submitted. Additional documents may be requested by the embassy or consulate.
