Provisional (Temporary) Visa Sub Clausses
There are six Provisional Visa categories which last for four years and in each case, these can be converted to Permanent Residency Visas subject to successful performance in Australia.

The criteria behind some of these visas will now be described in more detail. It may be noted that in most of the visa categories there is a provision that the applicant is sponsored by a State or Territory Government.

This is an important precursor to obtaining a visa and it is indeed a complicated affair which means documents and other proof that will be required, in any event, for the Visa application.
