Indian Railways
India Railways, the world’s second largest railways system under a single management, connect across the length and breadth India, from east to west, north to south, crisscrossing and interconnecting different destinations. It provides the principal mode of transportation for freight and passengers.

It has played a vital ole in the economic, industrial and social development o our country.Indian Railways made a modest beginning on 16th April, 1853, when the foist rain was flagged off from Bombay to Thane, a distance of 34 km. It has since grown into a vast network of over 7,000 stations with a fleet of around 7000 locomotives, 34,000 coaches, 5,550 other coaching vehicles and 291,360 wagons.
