Entrepreneurship Development and Training - They include various types of EDP programmes run by SISIs, Branch SISIs and Associate Institutions. Technical training is provided to beginners/ workers and a host of management inputs are given to entrepreneurs/ investors. Training in technical skill development is given to technicians and workers in various workshops, Testing Centres and Tool Rooms.

Integrated Infrastructure Development Scheme - The scheme is envisaged to augment the infrastructural development facilities in rural and backward areas to promote industrial development.

Export Promotion - Trade exhibitions are held abroad and export worthy SSI units are given opportunity and assistance in exhibiting their selected items in these exhibitions. SIDO provides assistance towards handling, clearing, insurance, publicity, freight, etc. Without recovering this expenditure from the participants. The trade enquiries generated in these exhibitions are widely circulated.

The trade delegations and sales-cum­ study teams are sponsored from the small scale sector under the marketing Development Assistance Scheme of the Ministry of Commerce which provides reimbursementof60% .of the air fare from the funds on admissible items of expenditure. In addition to participation in external exhibitions, this organisation also participates in various exhibitions; commodity fair held in various parts of the country through the field organisations in collaboration with other concerned organisations.

The Import-Export policy allows various exports/imports entitlements to exporting units under different schemes covered under the policy. These schemes primarily relate to advance licensing scheme of 100% EOUs, setting up of units in FTZs/ EPZs. The proposals received from SSI units are considered and recommended for granting of various licences /entitlements to the importers to help them meet their requirements of material etc.

Imports under some of the schemes are allowed without payment of customs duty or at concessional rates of customs duty. (Note - Export promotion is done through a number of other schemes, which can be ascertained from the SIDO offices listed in this Directory).
