Undergraduate Education
It is important to know the pattern of the U.S. educational system in a comprehensive manner. The first year of the undergraduate education is known as freshman and the second sophomore, the third as junior and the fourth year as senior.

Specialisation in respective field of study begins in the third year i.e. junior. For those who hold a bachelor's degree from their native countries or have undergone a course after passing XII, and if such a qualification is not recognised by the U.S., they have to seek admission at undergraduate level only. Of course, due credits are given for such types of study.

Thus, if you wish to enrol for a bachelor's degree program, you will be eligible, if you have successfully completed twelve years of schooling. Apart from B.A. and B.S. degrees, 2-year Associate of Arts (A.A.) and Associate of Science (A.S.) degrees are also offered to high school graduates. This can facilitate your entry into third year of a bachelor's degree program in some of the institutions in the U.S.
