To Apply for a Student Visa
Applicants should apply at the Consular Section of the American Embassy any working day, Monday through Friday, between the hours of 8:30 and 10 a.m. Documents required are:
I. Valid Passport.
2. One passport-size photograph, black and white or color.
3. A Non-immigrant Visa Application (Form 156) available from the Consular Section.

4. Form 1-20 executed by the authorizing official of the institution concerned, signed by the applicant.
5. Evidence of financial ability to cover the costs of the education and maintenance involved, as noted above.

6. Visa fee of Rs 4600 + Rs 276 may be paid at any of the designated HD FC Bank branches and Bank receipt should be secured. Only after paying this fees a student can schedule an appointment and complete application form at vfs-visa-co.in

When to apply: an applicant may apply for a student visa not earlier than 120 days before the registration date specified on the Form 1-20. If the registration date has ill ready passed or the applicant cannot reasonably expect to arrive at the school by the registration date, the applicant should obtain an amended 1-20 or a letter of extension from the issuing institution stating by what date the applicant may arrive.

You may apply for such a visa at the Consular Section of the Embassy between 8:30 to 10 a.m. on all days, Monday to Friday.
