Education System
The total enrolment of students at the Netherlands universities/institutes stands around 51,000. Nearly 82,000 students pass out from these institutes. In the Netherlands regular higher education is mainly of two types:
(i) Higher professional education
(ii) University education
While students at the research-oriented universities are trained for the independent practice of work, the universities of professional education i.e. Hogescholen (as these are called in Dutch) have a practical approach and prepare students for specific career. The foreign students are offered specially designed courses by the International Education institutes.
