Higher Education
Hong Kong has 12 degree-awarding higher education institutions. They include seven universities and a teacher training institution funded by the University Grants Committee. The other four institutions are the Open University of Hong Kong, the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, the Hong Kong Shue Yan College and Chu Hoi College of Higher Education. All universities offer 35 to 50 different academic programs at the bachelor's and master's degree levels. For most of the Universities in Hong Kong the, academic year is from September to August. In the case of Polytechnics in Hong Kong, the dates vary.
