5. Follow-up Programmes for Former DAAD Fellowship Holders form India

5.1 Re-invitation Programme
Former Long-term (minimum: 1year) DAAD fellowship holders on active duty may apply for research visits to Germany for a maximum period of 3 months at a time. At least two-thirds of the stay should be spent at a particular institute.

There are separate re-invitation programmes for former DAAD fellowship holders from VSIR institutes, as well as fro former A vH fellowship holders. Scientists from these institutes and A vH-fellows may apply through those channels only. All applications for re-invitation visits from eligible candidates should reach DAAD New Delhi by October 15.

Eligibility Requirements:
Time frame: At least 3 years must have elapsed since the applicant's return form the stay in Germany supported by a long-term DAAD fellowship.

Contact: Applicants should have remained in regular scientific contact with their counterparts in Germany after their return to India.

Placement: Applicants should submit copies of correspondence with their German counterparts- not older than 6 months- agreeing to the proposed research plan and the suggested time schedule.

Leave: Applicants must submit a certificate form their employers granting paid research leave for the duration of their visit.

5.2 Grants for Books, Journals, and Equipment
Former Long-term DAAD fellowship holders may apply for donations of books or subscriptions to journals published in Germany (publications form elsewhere will be considered in exceptional cases).

The value should not exceed DM 400 per year. Requests indicating author, title, year, and publisher should be forwarded directly to DAAD New Delhi.

Applications for the supply of scientific equipment and other material related to a specific research project, which should have a practical I orientation and. be part of a teaching and/or research programme, are also possible. The value of the equipment and material, including transportation from Germany to the port of entry, should not exceed DM 40,000.

The grant will be in the name or the university or institute of the former fellowship holder and administered by the Society for Technical Cooperation (GTZ) in close cooperation with DAAD New Delhi.

The recipient institutes must undertake to install, maintain, and repair the equipment at their own cost and to bear relevant fees accruing in India. Whenever possible, a representative of DAAD should be invited to inaugurate the installation of the equipment of site.
