Schemes that allow students to stay and work in UK Post-Studies:

1. Highly Skilled Migrant Programme (HSMP) allows graduates from the world's top 50 business schools to work in the UK for I year after completing their MBA. Candidates are selected on the basis of their work experience, past earnings and achievements, educational qualifications, etc.

2. Science & Engineering Graduates Schemes: Non-EEA nationals graduating from UK higher or further education institutions in Mathematics, Engineering subjects and certain Physical Sciences are allowed to remain and work in the UK for one year after completing their studies.

The institution in which the student is enrolled would be authorised to ascertain the period for which the student would remain in the UK. Financial securities would be required from those likely to present risk of breaching immigration rules.

3. Working in Scotland Scheme (Fresh Talent): This Scheme is designed to encourage students from overseas to stay and work in Scotland once their studies are completed. Students from throughout the European Economic Area, which includes the EU plus Iceland, Norway and Liechtenstein, already have the right to live and take up employment in Scotland at the end of their course. The Fresh Talent: Working Scotland Scheme extends these opportunities to students from other countries.

The Scheme applies to people who have been living in Scotland and studying at a Scottish college or university. It will enable them to stay and work in Scotland for two years after the end of their course without the need for a work permit. Who is eligible? Those eligible to apply for permission to stay will be those who have graduated with a Higher National Diploma from a Scottish Further Education College or a first degree, Master's degree or Ph.D from a Scottish Higher Education Institution.

It does not include students graduating with a Higher National Certificate or postgraduate diploma, recipients of honorary degrees, or people who lived outside Scotland while studying.
