USEFUL TIPS FORSEEKING ADMISSION

Your application should reflect your achievements, personality, ambitions and potential. The British Council Education Counselling Service therefore advises students to take extra care to ensure the high quality of their application. You should read the instructions before filling up the application form and go through the checklist of documents to be attached with it and some guidelines to be followed.

The British Council Counsellors help you to clear any doubts that you may have.

Check the following:
Ensure that your application is complete and all the required documents are attached. The admissions authorities may simply reject an incomplete application form.

Usually there are no deadlines for postgraduate applications, but it is advisable to send your application as early as possible. Some institutions may have deadlines. Consult the prospectus of the institution for details. Your applications should be typed, preferably.

Give your complete home address with phone, fax and e-mail details and inform the institution immediately in case of any change. This will ensure speedy delivery of any response.
You have to include a personal statement, academic references (two) and your curriculum vitae with your application form.

Institutions take at least three weeks to send an acknowledgment(including postage time) and more to make a decision on your application.
Only Self-funded students can apply using the ECS form. This form is valid only for students applying to ECS member institutions. Contact ECS for the list.
