LAB TEST FOR MEDICAL GRADUATES
The Professional and Linguistic Assessment Board (PLAB): Test is a prerequisite for postgraduate medical qualification and medical jobs in the United Kingdom. In order to register for these tests you need to have a primary medical qualification. Generally, those who have obtained their medical degree from all medical colleges recognised by the Medical Council of India are acceptable for the purpose.

The acceptable qualifications are however listed in the WHO's Directory of Medical Schools. Secondly you should have an minimum IEL TS score in
test 1 i.e. academic module overall 7 70 speaking 7, Listening 6; Academic Reading 6; Academic Writing 6.

Part I tests are now also conducted in India at New Delhi, Mumbai, Calcutta and Chennai. India is the first country outside Britain where these tests are being conducted.

The General Medical Council (GMC) which is the main professional
body that licenses doctors and regulates their standards in Britain conducts the entrance exam in India in partnership with the British Council. The first round of tests was held in October, 1997, and the next round in February 1998. These tests are open to any doctor residing in India. The PI AB examination is held simultaneously in Britain and India. However, the final part of the PLAB examination for Clinical and communication skill still has to taken in Britain.
