Career Based Training

Career based training in the UK - often known as "vocational" training - is about teaching you the things you need to know to pursue the career you want to follow. It offers practical courses delivered in a college environment, some leading to entry to university degree courses and others enjoying the status of professional qualifications in their own right.

What's more, the UK offers some of the world's most widely recognised career based qualifications in core subjects such as business studies, computing, engineering and art & design. Not forgetting the less conventional options like hotel and catering, tourism, fashion design, photography, sound technology, film production and advertising.

Vocational Courses are for those who want to work at a technical level. These courses are offered by several schools and further education institutions in Britain. One can opt for these courses after completing class XII. If you are interested in a technical career, you may take up a two-year BTEC National Diploma. After completing this course you will be eligible for a two-year Higher National Diploma or to a degree programme.

First Degree or Undergraduate Courses are mainly awarded with honours. Most first degree courses take three years. Some can take two.

Sandwich Courses allow students to develop their employment prospects by undertaking commercial training while studying. Such a degree-level course has two years of study, one year in industry, a final year of study, i.e. four years in all.
