British Examinations
The British Council acts as agent and manager for a wide range of professional British examining boards.
Who can take British Examinations? Students and professionals who have studied in Britain in part and who have come to India can pursue their studies by appealing as overseas students. Candidates who have obtained admission to institutions in Britain and have the approval of the institution to take their examinations in India can approach the British Council to have the examination(s) administered locally. Certain examinations can be taken prior to obtaining admission at a UK institution.

. Liaison with universities/institutions in Britain on behalf of candidates who wish to take examinations
. Examinations can be taken at any of our regional offices located at
Bombay, Calcutta, Delhi and Madras. Security of examination papers is assured.
Examinations can be taken in an environment which meets international standards.
. Candidates can become library members to assist them in preparing
for examinations.
The British Council in India administers, besides many others, the following examinations:
. International General Certificate of Education Examination (IGCE) '0' and 'A' levels of the University of London Examination and Assessment Council for students desiring admission to graduate courses in Britain.
The International English Language Testing System (IELTS) which assesses the proficiency of the English language of candidates intending to study in Britain.

. The Chartered Association of Certified Accountants (ACCA)
Candidates who appear for overseas examinations need to obtain the Government of India's approval from the U3 Section, Department of Education, Ministry of Human Resource Development, Shastri Bhawan, New Delhi 110001.
