Accommodation
Finding a place to live is a crucial part of the process of planning to study in the UK. It is particularly important that you have accommodation arranged - even if it is only temporary - before you leave home. The two main types accommodation available to students are:

University accommodation and private housing
If you are going to UK for the first time, you may prefer to use university accommodation. It is easier to organise before you arrive, and it cal1 provide a good base from which to get to know the university and other students.

There are two types of university accommodation - halls of residence and self-catering halls. If you would prefer to live in a private housing, you will probably need to find this yourself, although the university accommodation office will offer suggestions.

Information on university accommodation and how to apply for it or can be found in the prospectuses. Suitable accommodation for students with dependents, especially those with children, is more expensive and particularly difficult to find. You will need to start making arrangements as soon as possible Do not travel to the UK with your family unless you have booked suitable accommodation in advance.
