Masters in Business Administration (MBA) - In Australia, the MBA degree is intended for those with some practical experience who now wish to widen their managerial knowledge and skills.

The common core subjects of an Australian MBA are: Competitive Analysis; Strategic Planning & Policy; Financial Decision Analysis; Marketing; Total Quality Management; Quantitative Methods; Human Resource Management Organisational Behaviour, Management of Information Systems; followed by a range of elective subjects.

As applicants for an MBA are expected to have had two years employment experience following their undergraduate degree, no prior knowledge of management studies is necessary for admission to MBA programmes.

Australian MBAs are designed with the competitive market in mind, and this is reflected in the "hands on" approach MBA courses adopt in teaching.

An interactive teaching approach emphasises participation, team-work, and case studies, rather than passive lectures. In addition, they provide the opportunity for project work in industry, working on real management and strategic issues. Australian universities offering full-time MBA have generally recruited students from overseas
.
Entry into Australian MBA's GMAT Exams Institutions assess a number of criteria when selecting students for MBA courses, including undergraduate performance, references and work experience. Another criterion for entry into an Australian MBA is the , GMAT exam.

The GMAT exam was developed in order to provide graduate management and business schools around the world with an objective measure of their applicants' general verbal and mathematical skills. Test candidates receive three scores-Verbal, Quantitative and Total.

The Verbal and Quantitative scores are scaled between 0 and 60. The Total is a score between 200 and 800. The higher the score, the better you have done. A good GMAT score is essential, as most MBA programmes have more applicants than positions and therefore may reject you on the basis of a weak GMAT score.
