Important information for study in Australia - Before applying to an Australian education institution, a student should be aware of the support services available in India to assist this process.

Australian education representatives in India Many Australian educational institutions employ an agent-based recruitment process, through Australian education representatives in India.

Australian education representatives offer a "one stop-shop" facility aimed at providing convenience and personal attention. A recently formed Association of Australian Education Representatives in India (AAERI) formally adopted a "Code of Ethical Practices" and other common modalities obligatory on all agents.

A recommended schedule of fees and services provided for it is outlined in the charter of this association which should be displayed/available with all agents. All extra services, viz. banking services, flight bookings, multiple applications, etc., might incur an extra payment which is fixed at the agent's discretion.

You are advised to contact the AIEF, Australian High Commission, New Delhi, to clarify the credentials of Australian education representatives or any other aspect of their role.

Generic counselling by AEI -   Group Counselling sessions are available at the Australian High Commission, New Delhi, at 2.30 and 3.30 p.m. daily except Thursdays and the Australian Consulate-General office in Mumbai on Fridays. The interested members of the public are invited to visit the AEC in New Delhi (by appointment) and the Education Resources Center in Mumbai during normal working hours.

The Australian Educational Centre (AEC) - The AEC operating at the premises of the Australian High Commission, New Delhi; provides generic and detailed information of Australia and its educational institutions.

This facility is accessible to everyone, and there is no charge for most facilities, except those like photocopying, special services, access to Internet etc. Appointments are necessary

A dedicated officer is also available at this centre to provide personalised assistance and guidance.

This facility is to augment and compliment the services offered by individual Australian education representatives, whose package might include valueadded services like faster communication, interview counselling, Forex alloca
tion assistance, etc.

The resources available at the AEC are not limited to education-specific matters. It has been designed to meet a' wider area of growing interest on Australia by Indian students like economic ties, culture, science and technology, history etc.

The AIEF encourages all concerned to actively avail the facilities offered by the AEC, and suggest any other requirement they may have.

An education resource centre is operated at the Australian Consulate General Office in Mumbai.
