Diversity and Autonomy of Institutions

One of the most important characteristics of the system of higher education is the diversity and autonomy of the institutions which allow them to develop their research focus, priorities and strategies.

It also allows international students to choose an institution which reflects their priorities and focus of research. In 1997 there were as many as 64,000 international students in Australian higher education institutions.

Awards
A ward courses vary considerably with the higher education sector in form, entry requirements, duration and method of assessment.
