1. Admission to Ph.D. Programme: Motivated candidates are invited to pursue research at CDRI leading to the award of Ph.D. Degree of Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), in the following areas:

(i)   Molecular Biology
(ii)   Microbiology
(iii)   Parasite and General Immunology
(iv)  Biotechnology in Drug Development
(v)   Biochemistry
(vi)  Macromolecular Structure and Structural Biology
(vii)  Drug Metabolism 
(viii) Recombinant DNA

(xi) Molecular Endocrinology, Hormones and Receptors
(x) Microbial Genetics
(xi) Pharmacology and Physiology
(xii) Medicinal/Bio-Organic Chemistry

Eligibility:
Masters Degree or equivalent with 55% aggregate marks percentage in any branch of Science (Physics, Chemistry, Life Sciences, Microbiology, Botany, Zoology, Physiology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Pharmacy, Medicine)


Selection: Candidates are selected through a written examination followed by interview at CDRI on a monthly stipend of Rs. 4,000 (Fixed). However, CSIR-UGC-NET qualified candidates are exempted from written test only but are required to appear for the interview. GATE qualified candidates securing less than 90% marks have to appear in the written examination. Short-listed candidates are selected strictly on merit. There is no separate test paper for Physics subject

2. "Post-Graduate Research Traineeships" for taking up research in project and schemes leading to the award of Ph.D. degree of Indian Universities at Central Drug Research Institute, Lucknow

The selections are made under two categories:

Category 1: Candidates who have already cleared CSIR-UGC-NET Examination but not awarded the CSIR fellowship. Selection of candidates under this category is based on an interview only

Category 2: General Candidates: The selection under this category is based on a research aptitude test followed by an interview. Only those who secure minimum 60% marks in both the test and interview, separately will qualify for inclusion in the merit list. Selection is strictly based on merit

Age: T e age limit is 28 years as on the specified date, relax able by 5 year for SC / ST / women and physically handicapped applicants and 3 year for candidates belonging to OBC. Further information can be had from above address

Duration: This award shall initially be limited for a minimum period of 2-year which may be extended for another year depending on the availability of funds in the research scheme of the supervisor. However, the candidates who subsequently qualify CSIR-UGC-NET Examination or awarded CSIR Research Fellowship would be allowed to continue (For a maximum period of 5 year)

Value: Monthly stipend of Rs. 4000 per month is given
