Department of Atomic Energy (DAE), Graduate Fellowship Scheme. DAE Graduate Fellowship Schemes are being developed to further strengthen research-education linkage in areas of interest to DAE programs.DAE Institute M Tech scheme is one such scheme and provides excellent career opportunity for pursuing prestigious programmes of the Department to students qualifying for admission to the M Tech course in Indian Institute of Technology at Kanpur or Mumbai

(likely to be extended to other IIT's particularly at Delhi & Chennai). Student pursuing specified specialisation (such as Mechanical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering & Technology, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Materials Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering, Control & Power Engineering, Applied Optics, Lasers & Optoelectronics etc.) can qualify for admission to the Scheme.

Highlights of the Scheme:
(1) Selection by interview at Mumbai (June to July) with prerequisite minimum qualification as: Selected for M Tech at IIT’s with BE/B Tech/ B Sc (Engg.) in specified branches (aggregate marks not less than 60%) and a valid GATE score as specified by IIT’s. Candidates are paid to and fare sleeper class fare between theirresidence and Mumbai. (2) Age: 26 years as on September 1st and found medically fit by BARC Hospital. Relaxation in age (5 years) for SGST and 3 years for OBC candidates is admissible.
(3) Monthly stipend of Rs. 8,000 /-with other allowance including tuition fees would be paid during the 2-year period of the M Tech Courses.

(4) Project Guides from the DAE and IIT would decide Elective/Audit courses andproject work for the M Tech candidates under this scheme.

(5) On joining this scheme, the selected candidate would have to sign an agreement -In case of non-compliance, the candidate would have to    refund the stipend, all allowances and the tuition fee paid by DAE.

(6) On successful completion of the M Tech course, the candidate would join a 4-month
Orientation Course for Engineering Post-Graduate (OCEP) conducted at BARC  Training School, Mumbai starting from 1st August. The candidate would be absorbed as Scientific Officer - 'C' in a DAE Unit in the scale of Rs. 8000-275-13,500 with up to 5 advance increments depending upon his performance in M Tech & OCEP and the approval by competent authority. Total emoluments inclusive of 5 advance increments and all allowances (DA, CCA & HRA) would be around Rs. 17,OOO/-p.m. if posted in an 'A' Class City. (www.barc.ernet.in).
