Transplastomic plants
During 1998-2001, transplastomic plants have also been produced in several plant species other than tobacco. These plant species included Arabidopsis, potato, rice and tomato. However, it most of these cases except tomato, the efficiency was poor and the transgene could not be shown to be transmitted to the next generation.
