Transplastomics in Rice
Transplastomic plants have also been produced in rice using fluorescent antibiotic resistance marker gene. Although the transformation was easy, but the regeneration from cultured cells was too fast to produce homoplastomic state thus making it difficult to produce stable transplastomic plants. Unfortunately in most of these cases of transplastomic rice plants, transmission of the transferred trait to the next generation could not be demonstrated.
