Transplastomics in Arabidopsis
In 1998, transplastomic plants were produced successfully in Arabidopsisalso, but the process proved very inefficient, producing 100 times fewer transformed lines than in tobacco. All transplastomic lines were found to be male and female sterile and could be propagated only vegetatively through tissue culture.
