Methods of transformation of Cp genome
Mainly two approaches are known for introducing specific foreign genes in the chloroplast genome of Nicotiana tabacum.
In one case the transformation was achieved using a vector based on Agrobacterium tumefaciens Ti plasmid, and in the other case it was achieved through bombardment of leaves with tungsten particles coated with DNA. Other methods are also available.
