Arabidopsis"2010 project"
During annotation of DNA sequences of Arobidopsis genome, it was noticed that the functions of about 50% of 26,000 genes of this genome were still unknown. Keeping this in view, in the year 2001, the National Science Foundation, USA announced funding of 28 new projects in the area of Arabidopsisfunctional genomics at an estimated cost of US $ 43.8 millions for a duration of four years. The project was designated "2010 Project" and was aimed to identify the functions of all genes present in Arabidopsisgenome. A list of these projects awarded in 2001, along with abstracts of the projects are available at www.nsf.gov/bio/pubs/awards/2010 fy01.htm.
