Cell Culture
As described earlier in this chapter, although single cells could be cultured by Haberlandt as early as 1898, they could be induced to divide in culture only after several decades. During the second half of the last century, the progress in their area has been so spectacular, that cultured cells are being used in all areas of biology for a variety of purposes. The cell culture techniques will be briefly described in this section
