Maps for sunflower
Several molecular maps have been prepared in sunflower. The molecular markers that have been used for this purpose included RFLPs, SSRs, DALPs and AFLPs. The maps, .each consisted of 17 or 18 linkage groups (n = 17) and differed in their genetic length from 1368 cM in the SSR map to 2,168 cM in DALP/AFLP map. The latest of these maps included an AFLP map published in 2001 and an SSR map published in 2002. Numerous duplicated loci were detected by many RFLP probes, suggesting that sunflower is a secondarily derived polyploid.
