This scheme, introduced in 1994, supports research in Indian performing arts as well as specialized training with gurus. Investigations in performance technique and studies of repertoire, correlating theoretical knowledge and practical training, are especially encouraged. The scheme supports fieldwork and surveys leading to collection of data on topics in music, dance and theatre as well as original artistic work involving performing groups. The grants are for individual workers only.
